Paul's art background
My art education comes from attending workshops with Ed Whitney, Frank Webb, Fred Graff and Vianna Szabo. During a two-week workshop with Whitney in 1970 I experienced an epiphany: the idea that careful planning following simple principles of composition could vastly increase the impact of a painting. This understanding was reinforced in dozens of subsequent workshops. I began teaching painting part time in the 1980s at the encouragement of local artist John Cook, a superb watercolorist.
