| Paul Brand Spring 2008 Painting Classes Students at all levels welcome |
| Classes & workshops emphasize one-on-one instruction in a relaxed, productive atmosphere. Students get hands-on experience and plenty of opportunity to complete their own paintings. Fundamentals that apply to all media are covered: composition, color mixing, and ways to catch the viewer's eye. Students supply their own materials. Watercolor at the Toledo Museum of Art Sunday afternoons. To register call the museum at 419-254-5080 Sign up early: Registration closes APRIL 9th Spring class: Building blocks of watercolor painting. Paintings done in watercolor are luminous and bright, more than in any other medium. This luminosity is achieved by allowing the white of the paper to shine through thin glazes of color in the bright areas of the paper, and to contrast these areas with darker areas of color. This course will help you to plan your watercolor paintings as blocks or shapes of white and dark to achieve the freshness and luminosity that are the glory of watercolor painting. Sundays, 1 to 4 PM, April 13, 20, 27, May 4, 18 and June 1 Cost to be determined by the museum; member discount applies. Summer Class: Painting in watercolors Learn the fundamentals of painting by exploring the transparent properties of watercolor paints while studying the basic concepts of value, color mixing, and composition. Individual instruction emphasizes hands-on experience. Open to all skill levels. Beginning Drawing or previous drawing experience is recommended. Sundays, 1 to 4 PM, June 8, 15, 22 and 29 (tentative) Cost to be determined by the museum; member discount applies. Spring 2008 All Media Class in The Toledo Artists' Club Studio in the Toledo Botanical Gardens Paint in the medium of your choice, watercolor, pastel, oil, gouache or acrylic. Hands on class, one on one instruction. Techniques, color, composition. Every Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM. Cost is $20 per session, Come when you can, pay only when you come.
