The Piano Project
Fall 2009
This year is the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great jazz pianist, Art Tatum. In
honor of his centenary the Toledo Jazz Society and the Art Tatum Jazz Heritage
Foundation solicited donations of pianos and invited artists from Northwest Ohio to
paint or decorate the pianos. The pianos are to be auctioned to raise funds for the
Toledo Jazz Society. Meanwhile they are on display in various locales in the Toledo
area. On this page Renee and I are sharing pictures of the piano we painted, which
may be viewed and played in the Conference Center at the Toledo Botanical Garden.
